Pre-existing diseases refer to medical conditions that intending policyholders are already suffering from while purchasing an insurance policy. This is an important thing to declare in all policies because insurers don't cover such conditions within 24-48 months prior to taking the first policy. It means a pre-existing disease may be considered for payment, only after the completion of 24-48 months of continuous insurance cover.
